The Meteor

From first carousel rides to full-inversion thrillers, the Green has something for every kind of fairgoer. Height limits are shown at each ride entrance and may change if an attraction is replaced during the season.
Twin rotating arms, suspended seats and repeated inversions. Riders must be at least 1.4m tall. Loose items must be left with a non-rider.
A high-speed spinning platform with outward-facing seats and a rising boom. Fast, loud and one of the best views of the midway.
Twenty electric cars under the original bulb-lined canopy. Drivers 1.2m and over; smaller passengers may ride with an adult.
Twelve enclosed gondolas and an easy eight-minute circuit. Children under 1.1m ride with an adult. Wheel pauses are normal while loading.
Hand-painted horses, carved rounding boards and a traditional organ soundtrack. Adults may stand alongside very young riders.
A gentle miniature train looping past the bandstand and flower garden. Particularly popular before 16:00 when the fair is quieter.
Climb the striped tower and ride the spiral mat slide back to ground level. Closed during heavy rain for safety.
Hook-a-duck, basketball, tin-can throw, archery darts and the long-running ring toss. Each stall displays game rules and prize levels.
Weekdays between 12:00 and 15:30 are usually the gentlest time to visit with small children. Music is kept lower across the children’s end of the midway, queues are shorter, and there is more space around the benches and picnic tables.
Parents and carers may accompany children free on selected toddler rides where the operator requests an adult rider. Ask at the ride before buying tokens.
Height restrictions are set by each attraction’s manufacturer and insurer. Operators may ask a child to stand at the height marker even if they have ridden before.
Closed shoes are strongly recommended for all fast rides. Some attractions cannot accept casts, recent surgery, pregnancy or certain heart and back conditions; safety notices are displayed at each entrance.
The bandstand, picnic lawn and east-side benches are all free to use. Prize Alley stays open throughout the day, and our photo booth makes four-strip black-and-white prints until close.
On Saturday evenings the bandstand hosts short live sets while the larger rides continue around it.
